The Camp in Costa Mesa is a really hip, trendy spot known for its alternative atmosphere. In fact the OC Weekly just raved about the interesting shopping and businesses there in an article about why Costa Mesa is the best place to live in 2010. Costa Mesa hair salon Christopher Perry’s Retreat calls The Camp home and embraces the lifestyle that is prevalent at The Camp.
We recently chatted with Sean Konor who runs The Retreat about how the hair salon is in alignment with Costa Mesa. Here’s the scoop:
1. The Camp location is perfect for the salon: The Camp is a diverse community where you won’t find cookie cutter shops. It provides a creative venue for smaller vendors. Since the atmosphere is so creative the shops can surprise the consumers. The vibe here is a casual one and great talent is enhanced because of the artistic venue. Forget the egos that are often connected to the hair industry, this salon is real!
2. As a business, the salon loves being a part of Costa Mesa: The energy here is amazing. As the OC Weekly article stated, Costa Mesa is “actually interesting.” There is an opportunity to be expressive. At The Camp they had a chance to create a modern space with a lounge-y environment that many of their clients appreciate and everyone is friendly.
3. Community support is key: There are so many great local schools and churches to support. The arts are a huge part of Costa Mesa culture and The Retreat is dedicated to helping them as well.
The vote in OC Weekly is great publicity for Costa Mesa. Of course Torelli Realty always applauds the accomplishments of our hometown. Businesses like The Retreat are integral is the perception of Costa Mesa.
