Anne McCasland is proud to announce that he granddaughter Kailey McCasland has accepted a full scholarship to Louisiana State Univerisity for softball. They’re lucky to have her! Proud Grandma

Anyone who knows real estate agent Anne McCasland knows that she is a sweet lady who adores her grandkids. One of her favorite things to say is that she has been selling real estate for so long that she is now selling real estate to her former clients grandkids. Anne couldn’t wait to show her support for Kailey and neither could we – congrats!

Torelli Realty Agent Gets Award

From ‘I Hate Realtors’ to Flowers and Dinner!

I Hate Realtors!

Everyone knows somebody who hates Realtors. There’s a variety of reasons:

-Some view them as greedy and just out for a commission

-Some think they don’t do enough work to justify the compensation

-Some think the job is too easy and doesn’t require a professional

-And some people have had a lousy experience with an agent and vow never to work with one again.

Finding Middle Ground

Whatever the reason, these objections are real and real estate agents face them all too often. In fact, we recently had a client who claimed to hate real estate agents and wanted nothing to do with us. However, the ice melted because our agent Judy Reyes made a positive impact. Her kindness and experience made the difference.

The Result

Judy worked hard to provide her clients with the best service. By creating an enjoyable, safe atmosphere, the transaction brought about no signs of sellers remorse. The picture below only tells half the story…

The clients also took Judy and her husband to dinner!

The Bottom Line – always give your best and don’t give up! A tough sell can end up being your best sell!

Congrats to Julian Jackson-Brunning for being the August 2010 recipient of Orange County’s Heart & Soul Award. He received an overwhelming amount of donations to help the cause and had a fantastic birthday party too!

Julian

The Birthday Boy!

Word got out about Julian’s altruism and Orange County’s Heart & Soul Award has decided that he would be a prime recipient.

Julian is being honored at a reception presented by O’Connor Mortuary. The Heart & Soul Award supports many outstanding non-profit organizations. We’re proud of you Julian – thanks for being a source of inspiration and a great role model for Costa Mesa!

Congrats to Costa Mesa Mayor’s Awards Recipients

The Costa Mesa Mayor’s Award is quite an honor – it’s awarded to individuals in the community who play an active role and are not only those who lead, but those who serve. Congratulations to Ed Baume and Chuck Perry, two outstanding Costa Mesa role models who are receiving the award this year! These gentleman couldn’t have been a better pick!

The Picks

Ed Baume has been part of Costa Mesa Pop Warner for the last 50 years. We’ve posted tons of information about Pop Warner on this blog and it is clear how important this youth sports organization is for the city. So many of our youth participate in football or cheer plus many parents and volunteers are involved. Ed has volunteered in many positions and even at 82 years old he continues to serve as Eagle Athletic Director!

Chuck Perry has been a Costa Mesa resident for over 50 years and contributes immensely to the Estancia High School Football program. He played on the football team himself while attending Estancia, then coached, and today volunteers and fundraises. He is also a member of Costa Mesa United, a local organization that raises money for local sports activities. We’ve also blogged a lot about Estancia Football  and Costa Mesa United – the football team is a source of spirit for the community and Costa Mesa United is a huge contributor to Costa Mesa sports facilities, which enhance the lifestyle for so many of our neighbors.

The Award Ceremony

Ed & Chuck will receive the honor at the upcoming Costa Mesa City Council meeting on September 21, 2010 at 6pm. Congratulations!

Do you have any well-wishes for the recipients? Please post them below.

Costa Mesa Neighborhood Spotlight – Mesa Del Mar – An Interview With Costa Mesa City Councilwoman Katrina Foley

Mesa Del Mar is a great Costa Mesa neighborhood located just south of the 405 between Fairview & Newport Boulevard and in between Baker Street & Arlington Drive.

We recently interviewed one of biggest advocates for Mesa Del Mar we know – Costa Mesa City Councilwoman Katrina Foley. She has lived the neighborhood for 14 years and is currently living in her second Mesa Del Mar home. Here are 11 of Katrina’s favorite things about her neighborhood:

 Katrina Foley’s Top 11:

  1. The friendly neighbors
  2. Wonderful schools… Sonora Elementary has an amazing performing arts program (among other programs!), the Davis Magnet School has impressive science, technology and math programs, and Costa Mesa High School has an array of outstanding programs like the band, cheer team, choir, business academy, all the sports teams, and so much more.
  3. An abundance of parks. There’s the Bark Park for dogs, Volcom Skate Park, softball fields, tennis, soccer, even a lake!
  4. Cool shopping areas like the Anti-Mall, The Lab, and SoBeCa are right here, and South Coast Plaza is about a mile away.
  5. There are a variety of restaurants… from Mexican food, to sushi, to pizza, to Italian food… And for a more upscale night out you can go to the wine bar Onotria. All of these places are within walking distance… Plus there are plenty of other great places to eat nearby.
  6. Every year the Mesa Del Mar Homeowner Association hosts a 4th of July Bike Parade and a Luau where community spirit reaches record highs… These events are a well-known neighborhood tradition.
  7. The location is central to everything – easy access to all the major freeways (The 405 Freeway, the 55 Freeway, and the 73 Freeway are accessible here) and the neighborhood is still just a short drive to the beach.
  8. Residents can walk anywhere, even the grocery store! On top of that, the streets are safe for pedestrians and children as long as they are pay attention.
  9. It’s a golf cart community. Lots of people in Mesa Del Mar use golf carts to drive through the neighborhood – cool! Since Costa Mesa has 3 golf courses, this is convenient.
  10. You can walk to the Orange County Fair!
  11. Mesa Del Mar’s Washers Team is the City Champion!

There’s a lot more to add to this list and if you have anything else you’d like to add please comment below. Torelli Realty thanks to Katrina Foley for her time and knowledge!
