The Slam OC Rolls Through Costa Mesa – The Aftermath

The Volcom Skate Park in Costa Mesa was the place to be on Sunday, June 27. Costa Mesa real estate company Torelli Realty was proud to participate in an event that literally had  ‘Orange County’ written all over it. The event received some excellent publicity in OC Weekly.

For thoese of you who don’t know, Volcom Skate Park is a huge attraction for skaters all over the OC. It is located at the corner or Arlington and Junipero in the Costa Mesa neighborhood of Mesa del Mar right by the Orange County Fair.

Seth Elson was  the Chairman for The Slam OC and the purpose was to combine skateboarding, music, and environmental stewardship into one event. All day long riders took to the skate park and showed off their skills. Musicians rocked the main stage. The event encouraged recycling and had booths that promoted being green, like Ecofficiency. Torelli Realty also made a video with people giving their tips to help the environment.

The day rocked – literally, due to the music of bands like The Crowd, Channel 3, Disguster, New Skool Kings, Cat Party, Call to Glory, Joe’s Garage, SPLNTR, SLOKA, Craic Haus, and The Hindu Pirates.

Over 2000 people attended the event at Volcom Skate Park and there were over 150 contestants. The big winner of the day was Mike Owen and you can view some video if him here.  You can also see some video of signature skate tricks by Jim Gray here. Congrats to MESA for winning the Battle of the Zones contest for The OC Skateboarding League. Thank you to the Estancia High School Cheer Squad and the Costa Mesa High School Cheer Sqaud for adding some pep to the battle. We’d also like to thank The Attic Skate Shop and Frog House for helping us to provide some cool raffle prizes – you guys rule!

Events like this are part of what make Costa Mesa such a great destination and add to Costa Mesa life. The all ages event was free and provided a day of fun for skaters, families, and the community. As a real estate company, we are proud to support the community and this event was a hit. What’s better than a $5 lunch and enjoying a chili cook-off? The Chill’n Daddy’s Father’s Day Chili Cook-Off sponsored by the Costa Mesa Rotary Club is the perfect event.

Watch our video of the 1st Annual Costa Mesa Community Picnic! The event was spearheaded by Mike Brumbaugh, the head of the Halecrest Hall of Fame Association. Mike got together with members from various neighborhood associations throughout Costa Mesa and the committee planned a fun day for the entire community. The goal of the event was for neighbors to come together and enjoy a day of friendship. Egg-Citement Entertains Costa Mesa Residents

This past weekend Costa Mesa residents enjoyed Egg-Citement at Tanager Park in the Mesa Verde section of Costa Mesa.  Torelli Realty has hosted Egg-Citement for over 15 years and each year we get more and more people.  This year we had the largest crowd ever – over 500 children participated in the Easter egg hunt and families had a chance to enjoy the bounce house, petting zoo, pony rides, and coloring contest.  The Estancia Booster Club was there helping the Estancia High School Cheer Squad as they cheered and sold concessions to raise money for their team.  Plus the Easter Bunny posed for photos with the happy children.  It was a fantastic morning!

Egg-Citement 2010

Every year Torelli Realty brings in attractions for the crowd and all the money raised at the event goes right back to the local schools.  This year the Estancia Cheer Team made over $500 for their squad and an extra $200 was raised for the schools through the pony rides and petting zoo.

Holly studied at Boston University’s College of Communications. She has spoken at the International Real Estate Congress in Miami and is an avid industry writer. She is also a member of The Producers Guild of America. Originally from New Jersey, Holly moved to Boston for college, and then relocated to the Los Angeles area to pursue her degree in communications.  As a resident of Costa Mesa, Schwartz is looking forward to supporting the community by providing real estate information and organizing events.
